Public invited to tree planting at Downsview Park

  • 2016-06-15
Those who live in or near Downsview and who want to do their part for the environment are invited to an event at Downsview Park.

The Downsview Park Stewardship Team will be hosting a tree planting to help bring native species back to the park. Both shrubs and trees will be installed, and the team will also be on the lookout for invasive species, such as garlic mustard, that threaten the local ecosystem. Brochures can be used during events such as this to help provide the participants with further information about how they are making a difference.

Though those who wish to take part are not required to register beforehand, though it is recommended that they do so. It is highly suggested that people come dressed for the weather, and appropriate footwear and long pants are required. The park will provide insect repellent and sunscreen, as well as all of the tools and training that are required.

The event has been scheduled for June 27, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Discovery Centre in Downsview Park. Children and youth are welcome to attend, but those under the age of 14 need to have adult accompaniment if they wish to participate.

Those interested in attending the event are able to register online via Eventbrite.
