The TIFF Bell Lightbox's HSBC Gallery is currently showing an exhibit focused on the work of one of Canada’s most famous screenwriters.
‘David Cronenberg: Evolution’ is a celebration of the filmmaker's long and successful career; it is also the first exhibition of its kind presented by TIFF.
The showcase is divided into three sections: his early films – like ‘Videodrome’ - his middle period when he made the film ‘Naked Lunch’, and his more recent works, including several short films.
More than 300 original artefacts are on display, including photographs, props, artworks, original drawings, and interview transcripts. Most of the items were collected either from Cronenberg himself or from those who collaborated with him in the past. It also features rare and unseen film footage from the director. Cronenberg has called this exhibit "a work of art”. People can browse the gallery on their own or can take a free 45-minute tour.
This exhibit is expected to attract people from towns all over the GTA, including Downsview. Local printing companies may be helping to advertise it by providing products such as Flyers and Posters. It is recommended for those aged 18 and over but children can still attend with their parents or guardians.
David Cronenberg: Evolution is showing at the HSBC Gallery until January 19. The gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday. Admission is free for TIFF members, $15 for adults, $12 for students, and $10.50 for children. Special $5 Tuesdays must be booked in advance. Visitors are given a certain period of time to visit.
