The International Festival of Authors is taking place in Toronto over 11 days next month. The event has been bringing world-famous writers to the city since 1974.
There will be many well-known Canadian and international authors at this year's show, including Alison Wearing, Karl Schroeder, Evan Munday, and Margaret Atwood. Eric Walters, Linwood Barclay, and Peter Robinson will also be appearing. The authors will give readings, take part in round table discussions, and sign Books.
There are two main themes at the festival this year: ‘Brave New World’, which recognizes young and emerging authors, and ‘Found in translation’.
There will also be a number of other activities on offer during the festival, including a PEN Canada Benefit. This will feature Stephen King who will be reading from his new novel ‘Doctor Sleep’ and signing Copies for guests. Another event will be a marathon reading which will take place on October 26 and will be hosted by Rodge Glass.
The festival is very popular in the area and attracts people from all over the GTA, including those in Downsview. It is widely advertised which means organizers tend to invest in services such as flyer and banner printing.
The International Festival of Authors will take place at the Harbourfront Center from October 12 until November 3. Tickets are $18 each or $120 for a Festival Flex Pass of 10 tickets. The PEN Canada Benefit will be held in the Fleck Dance Theatre on October 24 beginning at 8:00pm; tickets are $100 each.
