The second weekend in September will see two different food festivals take place in the city of Toronto.
The Vegetarian Food Festival and the Taste of Kingsway Festival will give city residents and visitors a chance to experience the different foods available in the area.
The 29th Vegetarian Food Festival is hosted by the Toronto Vegetarian Association and is expected to attract more than 40,000 visitors during the course of the weekend.
The event will feature keynote lectures such as ‘Making animal agriculture transparent’ by Jenny Brown and ‘That kind of vegan: finding balance in activism’ with Erid Red. There will also be cooking demonstrations, workshops, free samples, and over 130 vendors. Local restaurants and bakeries will be exhibiting, too.
The Taste of Kingsway Festival, hosted by the Kingsway BIA, will be a family-friendly day of fun and food. It will feature two stages, midway rides, an auto show, a dog display, and children's activities. The theme of this year's festival is ‘Royal’ and vendors are encouraged to dress in costumes or decorate their booths to reflect this.
Visitors from all over the GTA, including Downsview, will likely be flocking to both of these events. Local printing companies will also be helping organizers to get the word out with Flyers and Posters.
The Vegetarian Food Festival will take place at the Harbourfront Centre from September 6-8. Admission is free. For more information, call 416-544-9800.
The Taste of Kingsway Festival is being held on Bloor Street West between Prince Edward Drive and Montgomery Road. Admission is free. Call 416-239-8243 to find out more.
