Downsview to get hot with rap icons

This June will see the Hot In Toronto festival staged in Downsview Park, with several major names in hip-hop converging on the area.

Headlining the show are popular Senegalese-American rapper Akon, female hip-hop pioneer Lil Kim, well-known hitmaker Lil Jon, and Grammy-winning performer 2 Chainz. Other well-known artists taking the stage include Bow Wow, Fabolous, Mya and Mario.

The one-day event will also feature food trucks and vendors taken from local Toronto chefs and restaurants, including vegetarian and gluten-free options, and bars and concessions throughout the festival grounds. The park will also include artwork and “experimental activation”, aiming to create unique photo opportunities for social media.

Hot in Toronto has promised surprise guests to help keep the evening exciting and feeling like a big summer party. One-day or weekend-long festivals featuring artists from a specific genre and/or era have become a popular attraction, with promoters using methods like poster printing and local radio advertisements to attract area music fans. The event is a follow-up to the Hot in Herre concert held last June featuring artists such as Nelly , T. I. and Ja Rule and described as a “throwback Hip-Hop and R&B festival.”

Hot in Toronto 2024 will take place on Saturday, June 22 at Downsview Park. VIP ticket packages will be available with special areas and bottle service.
