More than 50 people recently came to Downsview Station to help celebrate the end of an era for the TTC.
The group of transit fans arrived
to be a part of the last run for the TTC’s Orion V model of buses. Fans were treated to a 40 minute long final ride on the vehicle, and while they rode, they had an opportunity to learn more about the bus and what had made it such a workhorse for the transit commission.
While the bus made its final lap of its usual route, members of the public could be seen taking pictures of this historic run of the 196 York University Rocket line.
Man of those who had been a part of the retirement celebration were members of the Toronto Transportation Society. The group attracts those who have an interest in the buses, streetcars, railways and subways that the TTC uses to help the public get from one place to another.
The Orion V series of buses were the first in the system to have been equipped with chair lifts and bike racks. They will be replaced by Nova, Flyer and Orion VII series vehicles.
Newsletter printing can be used to produce updates for fans and interest groups for all sorts of points of interest, such as these. Newsletters can also be used to promote events to the community and encourage others interested in the mass transit system.
