One of Tree Canada’s mandates is to increase Canada's urban tree canopy and, to help make that happen, it is seeking helping hands in Downsview for its National Tree Day Planting campaign.
Thanks to financial support from BMO and its other sponsors, the organization will be holding seedling installation events all across the country, and Downsview Park will be the location for one of its projects. The planting blitz will take place at the location on one day only, and it will be part of the group’s largest plant days ever.
Those who register for the function will receive instruction in how to plant trees so they have the best chance of survival. They will also find out how to care for new and established plantings, and there will be experts on hand to answer questions and provide additional support. All of the materials needed will be supplied, and further details, including information about parking and the exact location for the activity, will be released soon.
Everyone who Signs up is asked to wear closed toed shoes or boots, and long pants and a water bottle are also strongly advised. It will be a rain or shine occasion. Many groups that utilize the manpower of volunteers choose to distribute small Promotional Products to helpers at an event to thank them for their assistance.
Tree Canada will be running its Planting Day activity in Downsview Park on September 20th. It’s free to register.
