Downsview Park outing to explore some of its rare plants

While the area surrounding Downsview Park may be urban in nature, the site offers a chance to experience “wild Ontario” right in the heart of the city. Those who would like to discover the wide variety of plants and animals that can be found on the property may want to include an upcoming event in their summer plans.

In this adults only event, a group of registrants will be led on a guided visit to the park’s section of tall grass prairie, which used to be more common in the region before urban development. Many of the plants that can be found at the site are quite rare, and the guide will discuss these species and how they are making a comeback. Light refreshments will be served, allowing community members to meet their neighbours who are also interested in the natural world.

Those who sign up for the activity will need to bring a water bottle, sturdy walking shoes and appropriate clothing. Offering each participant in this type of outing Booklets from a brochure printing company that give tips and ideas for how they can continue to keep on being kind to the environment can help to maximize the impact of the occasion.

Downsview Park has scheduled this visit to its tall grass prairie planting for July 28. The group will be setting out at 9:30 am.
