Downsview gardeners offered learning opportunity

As more people become interested in living a sustainable lifestyle, gardening has become increasingly popular, and an upcoming Downsview workshop will lead attendees to horticultural success.

Both veteran gardeners and horticultural newbies may benefit from participating in the two-day activity, and there is no cost to attend. It will explore how growing veggies at home may help to trim the monthly food bill, and it will be broken up into two sections, with both in-class and outdoor sessions on the agenda.

The attendees will find out how to choose plants that will do well in the conditions they have in their yard or other growing area, and garden layout planning will also be discussed. It will be focused on small-space growing, and watering, fertilizing, choosing the right growing medium and other cultural concerns are all on the slate for discussion . The facilitators will be happy to answer any questions.

Attending a class or other workshop like this can be a valuable learning opportunity, and any handouts needed for these can be created by local Stationery printers.

The first session of the Vegetable Gardening Workshop - Increase Food Security, Simply will be on offer on April 14th at 70 Canuck Avenue, while the second will take place outdoors at 160 Downsview Park Boulevard on April 15th. It is an initiative of Well-Watered Garden Project Downsview.
