Educators can play a role by incorporating information about the environment in the curriculum they follow, and this will be the focus of an event on offer for Downsville’s teachers next month.
Delegates in this year’s EcoLinks Conference, which will be organized and hosted by the Ontario Society for Environmental Education, will be offered the latest information about environmental education. Five main themes have been selected for the occasion, and these will be expanded upon by the presenters.
The symposium, which will be held in May, will run for one day and an assortment of presentations, as well as breakout sessions and other workshops, has been planned. They will be built around topics such as maker spaces, environmental justice, inquiry-based learning, environmental education from a First Nations perspective, and how food production impacts the environment.
This type of occasion can help teachers and other educators develop a greater understanding and appreciation for the environment in the learners they guide. Print shops can create conference packages that include handouts and other educational materials to give to each of the delegates, which they can then use when working with their students.
