In honor of Canada’s 150th anniversary, and National Drive Electric Week, the new Electric Vehicle Discovery Centre will open later this month.
Residents from North York and any of the surrounding communities, including Downsview and Bathurst, will soon be able to join Plug’n Drive - an initiative started to promote the many benefits of owning and driving an electric vehicle.
For electric vehicle novices, the discovery centre will share with them the 150-year history of electric cars, likely through the use of Signs and Brochures. Visitors will also be able to test drive several models of electric vehicles and watch as a classic car from 1918 is converted from gas to electric.
Electric car owners are invited to visit the discovery centre as well to share their experiences with electric vehicles and reflect on the impact their use of hydro instead of gasoline has had on lowering greenhouse gas emissions. Four charging stations will be available for use, with availability dependent upon demand.
The discovery centre will be screening two films exclusive to them, in the PowerPlace theatre. All visitors are invited to enter the 150 Years of Electrifying Canadian History contest. Promotional Products will likely be available for purchase during the event.
The discovery centre will open at 10:00 am this Saturday, September 9. This is a free event, but seating in the PowerPlace theatre is limited.
The discovery centre is located at 1126 Finch Avenue West, Unit 1 in North York. For a complete schedule of events, visit Eventbrite.
