A North York resident has been recognized for his commitment to keeping Downsview Park beautiful.
Mr. Albert Krivickas was chosen to receive a North York Urban Hero Award for his efforts throughout the past 20 years. When the military base that formerly stood where the park now stands today closed, he and several other residents from the area came together to form the Downsview Lands Community Voice Association. This group has worked ever since to ensure that the land has been developed in a proper way.
Two decade later, Mr. Krivickas is still dedicated to the improvement of his community. He wants to ensure that the green spaces will be protected, and that the development moving forward will take place in a responsible fashion. To this end, he has attended any number of meetings with city planners, the mayor’s office, developers as well as Ontario Municipal Board meetings and also ones with officials from Parc Downsview Park and more. Having digital Business Cards with him to hand out to those he meets with will allow him to be able to network effectively and keep in contact with those he meets.
According to Mr. Krivickas, he hopes that the park will continue to grow and thrive and he plans on continuing to be a vocal advocate for the community, its residents and the environment they all share.
