Traditional holiday run to return to Burlington

The OG Santa Run will be held once again in Burlington this December, bringing a holiday touch to the familiar athletic challenge.

The run will cover a three-kilometre paved route, with participants required to wear a velour Santa suit complete with beard. The suit helps keep runners warm during the December temperature but also adds an additional layer of challenge. The visually distinctive race has helped inspire other holiday “Santa runs” around North America.

The race’s finish line will feature a festive atmosphere with local restaurants welcoming racers with holiday food and drink. All participants will receive a holiday-themed finisher’s medal, with the race being untimed for a friendly atmosphere. Road races and other athletic competitions often use Print services and trophy shops to create unique rewards and mementos for participants.

Participants can choose to run, walk or wheel their way through the course at their own pace. Past editions of the run have included as many as 2,500 participants. Returning participants can bring their Santa suit from past years for a discounted ticket, with hundreds having participated in every edition. Organizers also host runs in Hamilton and other Ontario municipalities with the same holiday theme.

The 2025 OG Santa Run will take place along Drury Lane in Burlington on the morning of December 7. Participants are encouraged to register in advance.
