Burlington convention to showcase spooky fiction

After a successful first installment last year, dReadCon is moving to a new venue in Burlington for another edition, still celebrating horror and dark fiction.

The convention will feature a marketplace with over forty exhibitors, including authors, artists, crafters and publishers. There will also be two breakout rooms for special events, including panels with guest speakers and experts, book launch parties, and pitch sessions where aspiring authors can interact directly with potential publishers.

This year’s guests of honour include acclaimed author Kelly Armstrong, and returning authors Nick Cutter and JP Solanki-Davie. Visitors can also prepare for Halloween or pick up year-round spooky accessories from vendors like Kate DeJonge, In A Page Paper Co and Eerie Rivers publishing. Conventions like this can be vital advertisers for small publishers and authors who self-publish through printing services.

Readers are invited to pre-order Books and goods or to purchase a VIP experience for an exclusive hour of early shopping. Promotional material also emphasizes the opportunity to connect with other fans:

“Be the first to experience the Horror and Dark Fiction Literary Festival and Book Fair, and join the community of horror, dark fiction and thriller fans. Don't miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of fear and suspense.”

The 2025 dReadCon will take place at the Burlington Holiday Inn on the afternoon of September 13.
