Burlington’s Drury Lane theatre company will be kicking off its 51st season this November with the musical adaptation of Young Frankenstein.
The stage production is an adaptation of the beloved 1974 horror spoof film directed by Mel Brooks, which itself was a parody of Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein and other classic horror characters. The musical adaptation was created by Brooks alongside Thomas Meehan and features songs ranging from “The Transylvania Mania” to “Puttin’ on the Ritz.”
The Drury Lane production of Young Frankenstein will be helmed by director and choreographer Marc Richard and music director Anne Barnshaw. The show will feature a cast selected through local audition processes. The play’s run will include both evening and matinee performances, with Thursday nights shows being “Benefit Thursday.” These shows will include a special exclusive performers for backers of the Burlington Teen Tour Band.
The Young Frankenstein production is also designed to lead into the rest of Drury Lane’s season, which will include productions of Gershwin’s Nice Work If You Can Get It and the 4th Annual Music Hall revue, with combination tickets available. Local theatrical productions like this often use methods like flyer printing to help attract lovers of live theatre.
The Drury Lane production of Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein will be performed on select evenings and afternoons from November 7 to 30.
