There can be something healing about working with live plants, and a Burnside area workshop will offer these benefits to those who take part.
Healthy Minds Co-operative will soon host the return of the Grow Your Calm: Terrariums & Mental Health session, and it was a sell out last time it took place. Everyone will be able to craft their own dish garden, and while they do, they can discover how helpful horticultural therapy can be.
The function will take place in an environment that is friendly and supportive, and the participants can meet and get to know the other ticketholders. Arlie Buchanan will guide the learners through the steps of assembling their mini garden, and the succulents and other plants used tend to do well in this type of container. It is hoped that everyone will walk away with new connections, as well as a deeper understanding of the healing nature provides.
Crafting and other classes can make it more enjoyable to learn a new skill. Printed handouts and other items to supply to the students in a session can be ordered from Stationery printers.
The Healthy Minds Cooperative will be running this in-person exploration of the connection between hands-on horticulture and mental wellness on Monday, September 28th. Suite 210, 45 Alderney Drive has been set for its location.
