Vancouver workshop to help solve garden issues

Gardening in difficult locations will soon get a little easier for Vancouver’s budding green thumbs thanks to an online horticultural workshop.

The UBC Farm has prepared a virtual activity that may just come to the rescue for those who have been troubled by issues such as depleted soils, poor light conditions and limited space. It will take a troubleshooting approach to the problems discussed, and Mik Turje, who has a lot of experience in market and community gardening, will serve as the facilitator.

The activity will teach how to address issues that are commonly faced when growing food by the typical home grower. These range from the control of insects and other pests to making the most of a small space, and by following the tips shared, the attendees can expect to find more success at cultivating and harvesting their own fruits and vegetables.

The fee to sign up for this Zoom-based class is $18, plus GST, and it will run for two hours. Organizers who request contact details for the attendees in a virtual workshop like this will be able to send out kits of Promotional Products and other learning materials so they can keep on adding to their knowledge.

The online Garden Problem-Solving workshop’s scheduled start time will be 6:00 pm on June 2nd. Anyone who is interested is encouraged to secure their seat today.
