Vancouver residents who have been looking for an opportunity to connect with nature are invited to add their name to the list of volunteers at an event that will tackle invasive weeds.
The Douglas Fir Teaching Garden has set the dates for its Weed Pulls, and these “free the fern” activities will help to keep its native species healthy and thriving. They are scheduled for the first Saturday of each month, and the project will work on the Champlain Heights Trail System in South Vancouver.
The designated meet-up point for the volunteers will be 3530 Swansacre, and while all ages are welcome, anyone 12 and under will need to participate with an adult. Gloves, weed pullers and other tools will be provided, and snacks will be served as well. Anyone interested will need to add their name to the list in advance, as this aids the planners in making arrangements for the activity.
A volunteer-driven event gives the public an opportunity to get involved in a project, which may make them stakeholders. Promotional Products to give out to the helpers to thank them for lending a hand can be ordered from a local printing services provider.
The next invasive plant pull is scheduled for Saturday, March 7. It will begin at 10:00 am, and the registration form can be found on the Douglas Fir Teaching Garden website. Get a Free Quote for Promotional Products
