What's Happening in Vancouver, BC…

Indigo dyes have been used for centuries to colour cloth, and techniques for working with the medium will be on the agenda during a Vancouver class.

The participants in the session will be gaining hands-on experience by dyeing a bandana they can keep. They will be working with naturally sourced indigo, and it will be well suited to the beginner.

The facilitator will walk the registrants through the process of using a batik, which is a special tool that has been traditionally used to create “handwritten “ batik patterns. They will learn how each piece of textile dyed in this way tells its own story. Light snacks and drinks will be served to the carters, while they work, they can chat with, and get to know, the other attendees. A portion of the session will be held outside, and it has a scheduled runtime of six hours. The fee to take part is $129.00, and seats will be filled first come, first served.
