Thanks to its moderate climate, Vancouver offers year round gardening opportunities, and an upcoming workshop will provide an introduction to seasonal planting.
Figaro’s Garden will be offering an activity that will cover the basics of cool season cropping. The Cool Season Bounty: Planting for Fall and Winter Harvest session will explore how planting in late summer and early fall can provide crops that can be harvested until spring. There are several plants that lend themselves to this practice, and both planning and planting will be covered during the class.
Along with finding out which crops to plant, the attendees will discuss the pros and cons of transplanting versus direct seeding, and putting the garden to bed for the winter will also be reviewed. The use of row covers and other materials that protect tender sprouts and leaves will be on the agenda, and schedules for when to cultivate will also be shared. The methods taught will be practical and suited to almost any experience level.
Stationery printers can prepare Copies of handouts and other learning materials for a class or workshop like this one.
