Vancouver workshop teaches scorpion pinning techniques

Pinning and mounting techniques have been used for many years by entomologists and others with an interest in insects and arachnids, and a Vancouver workshop will teach how to properly do so.

Scorpions will be in the spotlight for the class that will be held at a Vancouver venue, and everyone will be able to take their project home with them at the end of the session. No experience is needed, and it is intended to be a relaxing experience.

The facilitator will teach how to safely rehydrate a delicate specimen scorpion, and properly positioning of its limbs will be discussed. Best practices will be on the agenda, and all of the materials needed will be included. Those age 16 and under may take part with an adult, and to help make sure everyone has an enjoyable experience and receives personalized attention, only a set number of spaces are available. A shopping discount will be provided at the host venue for the attendees to thank them for their support.

Pinned insects, herbarium sheets and other displays provide a way to both study and appreciate the natural world. A flyer printing company can be a helpful partner in helping to spread the word about an activity to the public in the local area.

Pretty Dead Taxidermy has made arrangements to offer this introduction to insect and arachnid pinning on November 19th. It will run from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at 2333 Ontario Street.
