Vancouver garden offers pre-planting season workshop

Vancouver home gardeners will soon have a secret weapon in their corner when it comes to vegetable growing, and it may help them to maximize the yields they harvest.

VanDusen Botanical Garden will be helping local home horticulturalists prepare for the upcoming planting season, and Jenna Jaski, Victory Gardens’ co-owner, will be the leader for the activity.

Set to run for two hours, the Getting a Head Start on Veggie Garden Planning workshop will discuss garden planning for the upcoming planting season, and both using seed and transplants will be on the agenda. Tips will be shared for choosing the best plants for a particular location, and the value of crop rotation and other cultural practices will be reviewed. Garden mapping will wrap up the session, and the organizers have advised there may be time for questions at the end. Tickets are $45.00 each, and anyone interested has been asked to secure their spot in advance.

Home gardeners often appreciate having the chance to learn some new techniques and meet other green thumbs, and a workshop like this may provide the opportunity to do both. A brochure printing company can supply learning materials for activities like this.

The Getting a Head Start on Veggie Garden Planning workshop will be offered on Tuesday, February 11th at the VanDusen Botanical Garden from 2pm to 4:30pm.
