Vancouver class to make popular dairy products from scratch

Cheese and other dairy products are a common ingredient in cuisine from many parts of the works, and a Vancouver workshop will offer an introduction to making two different dairy-based foods in the home kitchen.

Through a partnership between Vancouver garden clubs, members of the public will be able to learn how to make both paneer, which is Indian style cottage cheese, and fresh yoghurt using easily obtainable ingredients. No special devices will be needed, and all culinary skill levels are welcome.

The learners in the activity will get some hands-on experience producing these two dairy products, and everyone will go home with a jar of yoghurt they have made themselves. During the paneer making demonstration, they will see how to make flavoured paneers, and as the seed library will be open, everyone can choose seeds to swap or donate some they have collected from their own garden.

Learning how to make a new dish can be fun, and attending class makes it a lot easier. Recipe cards may be produced by Stationery printers to hand out to the learners an organized activity, and they may even be laminated so they are easy to wipe clean.

This introduction to making paneer and yoghurt from scratch in the home kitchen will begin at 6:30 pm on October 5th at 870 Denman Street. Anyone who would like to contact the organizers can do so at 604-257-8333 .
