Vancouver class to introduce small-space gardening

While many people would like to grow their own food, they may not think they have room to do so. However, an upcoming Vancouver workshop will show attendees how simple it can be to grow in a small space.

Whether they have a rooftop, deck or patio garden, or even just a pot on doorstep, the gardening class planned for the Coal Harbour Community Centre will explore the options that are out there when it comes to small-space gardening. The registration fee will be reduced for seniors, and all ages are welcome to attend.

The Balcony, Container and Small Space Gardening class will introduce a variety of techniques that can be used to grow vegetables, flowers and fruit in a small space, and the group will discuss everything from choosing a container and building a raised bed to which species and cultivars tend to do best in this sort of garden. Soil amendments, watering and choosing where to site a planting will all be discussed, and as the seed library will be open, everyone can pick up some seeds to take home with them too.

Workshop organizers often turn to Print shops to supply them with handouts and other learning materials to give to attendees

The Balcony, Container and Small Space Gardening class is scheduled for March 5th. It will run from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
