Vancouver workshop introduces nature-based learning
Mother Nature offers lots of lessons for those who know where and how to look, and a Vancouver workshop will help its educators invite her into their classroom.
Those who register for the Teach green: Pro-D Day for Grades 3-7 Teachers will learn how easy it can be to introduce nature based learning that aligns with the province’s current school curriculum. Three different environmental service groups will facilitate the activity, and the registration fee starts at $26.25.
The attendees will be taught a variety of activities they can replicate with their students, and they can be used in almost any location. Representatives of the Pacific Streamkeepers Federation, the Stream of Dreams Murals Society and the Wildcoast Ecological Society will be contributing to the learning. There will be demonstrations to view and lesson plans distributed. The location for the workshop will be John Norquay Elementary School in Vancouver, and it will be a full day event.
Teachers and other educators often participate in continuing education activities to help keep their knowledge base current. Stationery printers can prepare copies of handouts as well as promotional pens and other materials for a learning based event.
Vancouver teachers who would like to include more nature based learning in their lesson plans are asked to register for this hands-on workshop scheduled for November 21st. It will run from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm.
