La Catrina Procession planned for Vancouver
In many Latin American countries, including Mexico, Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) events hold an important cultural role, and Vancouver will be celebrating Latin American Heritage Month with a procession that will recreate one of these traditions.
The city will be welcoming one and all for its La Catrina Procession , and the public can get involved by spectating or being part of the parade. This will be followed by other activities that further showcase Latin American culture, and admission will be free.
The procession will feature La Catrina, and is a well-known symbol of the larger Día de los Muertos traditions. It will take place during the evening hours at 1531 Johnston Street on Granville Island, and it will be filled with music, colour and joy. It honours the community's ancestors, and a La Catrina Costume Parade will be part of the festivities. There will also be cocktail tastings as well as live music and other entertainment.
Parades and other festive events often incorporate banners, flags and other display materials. A banner printing company that offers graphic design services will be happy to provide a range of options for these items.
Vancouver’s La Catrina Procession will welcome the public on November 1st. It will begin at 5:00 pm, and more information about the event and the others planned for Latin American Heritage Month can be found on its web listing.
