Vancouver’s community of birders have been invited to be part of a survey outing that will be taking place in Renfrew Ravine next month.
Those who have at least some experience in spotting feathered friends are encouraged to add their name to the list of attendees for the Renfrew Ravine Winter Bird Survey, which will offer the opportunity to get involved in environmental advocacy. It has been organized by the Still Moon Arts Society, and the data collected will be used to monitor the overall bird populations in the ravine.
The route the group will follow is approximately 1.3km, and the activity will run for three hours. Wearing comfortable walking shoes and dressing in layers are both highly recommended, and the facilitator, Connelly Stirling, will be sharing birding tips, as well as information about the various species spotted. With a bit of luck, the participants may even be able to add a “lifer” to their list, and it is free to take part.
Species checklists, record sheets and basic field guides can all be prepared by a brochure printing company for an excursion into nature like this one.
The Renfrew Ravine Winter Bird Survey will be running from 8:30 am until 11:30 am on Saturday, February 8th. The meet up point will be located at 2851 East 29th Avenue in Vancouver.
