Youth Fest 2011 will take place in Surrey on September 24, and hopes to attract as much of the sizable local teen population as it can with a mix of music, dance and activities. Advertisements for the bash have been distributed; the poster printing company tasked with the job have opted to represent a skateboarder using an art deco style, and it is hoped that this will encourage many youths who participate in the sport to the event.
Youth Fest 2011 starts at 4 pm on September 24 and ends at 12 am. While the event is aimed at teens, those aged 10 to 13 are also encouraged to attend; however, they will not be able to attend a teen dance which is for those aged 13-18. The event will feature local youth bands, indoor and outdoor activities and the dance. A free bus will pick up youths from all over the city and bring them to Guildford Recreational Centre. For parents who have any concerns about safety there is information on the event’s website that should answer any questions that they may have.
Indoor events at the Youth Fest will include Sumo wrestling, Velcro Olympics, a DJ Booth, an Urban Art Wall and a break dancing battle. The dance will take place here from 8 pm until 12 am; those attending must show ID. Outdoor events will include a rock climbing wall, skateboard demonstrations, skate team demonstrations, BMX demonstrations and a BBQ.
Events such as this are important for the youth of the community. It can be a chance for local companies to interact with their community, and as such, presents an opportunity to distribute marketing materials.
