Surrey’s Sunnyside Acres Urban Forest will be celebrating 30 years of bringing a touch of the wild to the city, and the public is invited to wish it a happy birthday.
An afternoon of activities has been planned for this celebration, and it will showcase this green space and the benefits it provides the community. All ages are encouraged to participate, and there will be lots to see and do.
The guests will be led on a guided exploration of the site, during which they will learn more about the species that inhabit it and how they coexist with one another. There will also be a scavenger hunt for the kids, and they can make a craft and have their faces painted. Those who are not afraid of heights can get a bird’s eye view of the forest in a bucket truck, and there will be other activities as well.
Since this year marks the 30th birthday for Sunnyside Acres, cake will be served and there will also be free beverages, while supplies last. Banner printing for this type of festive occasion can be provided by an area printer.
This community event has been organized for the afternoon of June 2. Those who plan on attending the party, which will be held in the Wally Ross parking lot, are asked to enter through the Stellar Jay’s Trail.
