Surrey students offered spots in career exploration program

Surrey students who are aged 13 to 14 will have the chance to learn about the world of work when they participate in the Take Our Kids To Work Day event that is set for the city.

Surrey’s Parks, Recreation and Culture team will be offering area youth the opportunity to learn more about its operations, and there are three different streams available. The participants must be in at least grade nine, and they can choose their option based on their own interests.

The function has been organized to provide an option for families where taking their child to work would not be appropriate. The attendees will experience a typical working day, and can learn about the career paths that may be open to them. Event planning, recreation, cultural programming and volunteer coordination streams are all in the works, and the final date to sign up is October 30th. Signed permission slips must be provided.

Promotional pens that may be distributed to participants in such initiatives can be ordered from area print shops.

The city of Surrey is currently accepting signups for its Take Our Kids to Work Day, and it will run from 8:30 am until 3:30 pm on November 6. Spots are expected to fill quickly, and the location will depend upon which stream is selected.
