A Surrey event will provide a taste of Ghanaian style hospitality, and the weekend will be filled with activities and other fun.
Ghana is an African country that is well known for its rich heritage and friendly people. The Ghanaian Canadian community has planned a festival that will be all about celebrating with friends and family. It is open to all ages, and a special guest of honour will be making an appearance as well.
The schedule for the two-day event includes lots of cultural entertainment, including music and dancing. Guests can purchase food and drinks, and a soccer gala has also been planned. The Guest of Honour for the occasion will be His Excellency Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, who is Ghana’s Vice President, and the festival will be taking place in Bear Creek Park. Admission is free to the public, and the festivities will run from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm on both days of the event.
This type of celebration can bring the whole community together, and gives locals a chance to experience and learn about another nation’s culture, food, and sport, or to meet up with others if they are of Ghanaian origin themselves. GhanaFest 2019 is scheduled to take over Bear Creek Park on July 20 and 21. It is being organized and hosted by the Ghanaian Canadian Association of B.C.
