Surrey session explores herbal teas

Teas and tisanes have been used for many years for their taste and health benefits, and a Surrey session will provide an introduction to the plants used for these drinks.

Darts Hill Garden Park will be hosting an Apothecary Tea Tasting workshop facilitated by botanical pharmacology specialist Ana Dushyna. Dushyna will share her expertise in this hands-on activity, and everyone should come prepared to get their hands dirty.

The workshop will cover a variety of plants cultivated for their health benefits, and attendees will learn how to plant, grow and care for them in their own home garden. Dushyna will discuss the tradition and legends associated with the different species, and harvesting and storing the crop will be reviewed as well. No horticultural experience is needed, and the environment will be welcoming and supportive.

An activity that takes place outdoors makes nature the classroom, and stationery printers can provide copies of any handouts required. They can also supply promotional pens so it will be easy for the attendees to jot down any notes they wish.

The Apothecary Tea Tasting session will be held on August 9th. It will begin at 1:00 pm, and tickets for the activity start at $20.00 for Darts Hill Garden Conservancy Trust Society Members and $25.00 for non-members. Everyone who registers is asked to meet in the reserved parking area off 168th Avenue.
