Surrey conference to share tips for caring for first responders

A Surrey symposium will give those who work with first responders information and tools they can use in their efforts, remembering the often repeated saying that caregivers sometimes need care as well.

A selection of experts in the field of trauma, healing and resilience will be lending their expertise to the Occupational Awareness Training for Therapists Level 2 . Those who are interested are not required to have the Level 1 course to register for this event, and it is intended for healthcare professionals.

The participants in this program will discover ways they can help and support their first responder clients. The topics on the agenda range from the transition from work life to home life, to the impact of grief, strategies for self-regulation, and post-traumatic growth. At least nine speakers will be presenting, and Rick Hanson, PhD. will also address the group.

The attendees at this event can expect both panel discussions and presentations, and they will have an opportunity to meet with the experts during the scheduled breaks. Promotional Pens and other swag can be prepared for a large function like this by local printers.

The Council Chamber of Surrey City Hall will be hosting this conference this Friday, May 31, and it will continue on Saturday, June 1. The fee to participate is $360.
