Surrey buzzes about upcoming apiary workshop
Beekeeping can be a fun way to lend Mother Nature a helping hand, and Surrey residents who would like to find out more about this hobby may want to attend an upcoming course.
The Honeybee Centre has scheduled a Complete Beekeeping course for January of 2025, and it will prepare a new crop of apiarists in time for the spring season. It will run for two days, and will be geared towards the homeowner as well as anyone interested in starting a small-scale honey operation.
The workshop series will be taught by subject matter experts, and the instruction will take place in the classroom. It will introduce bee biology and hive management, and other topics will be on the agenda as well. Along with the two days of learning, the registrants will have access to three additional workshops, and the course is $279.99 each.
To supplement the in classroom instruction, the participants will each receive a copy of “Beekeeping in Western Canada”. A printing services company may be able to provide a range of binding options that may be used to prepare materials like this for a course or other learning session.
This in person introduction to the art and science of beekeeping will begin on January 25th. Both days will run from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm at 7480 176 Street.
