Pruning trees and shrubs keeps them looking tidy and productive, and an upcoming Surrey area class will teach the fundamentals of the practice.
The Pruning the Right Way – Trees & Shrubs workshop that will be taking place at Credo Christian High School will introduce pruning to home horticulturalists, and it will teach the ins and outs of working with a pair of secateurs. A variety of tools will be discussed, so that everyone will walk away with a better knowledge of how to choose the right tool for a particular job.
The group will get some hands-on practice, and they will be taught when to prune and why. They will learn how to make their cuts at the right angle and distance from the bud, and the activity will include both classroom and in the field experience. Everyone is asked to bring their pruners, as well as a bagged lunch, and the class will be facilitated by Amanda Jarrett, who is well versed in the subject matter.
A workshop gives people interested in a particular hobby or subject a way to learn new skills while meeting people with similar interests. A flyer printing company will be able to help spread the word about these sorts of activities.
The date for the Pruning the Right Way – Trees & Shrubs learning session will be January 22nd, and it will begin at 9:30 am. Tickets are $59.99.
