Surrey area charities to benefit from October events

The residents of Surrey and its surrounding areas are gearing up for two special charity events next month.

The first will be the Light the Night Walk, which is a fundraiser for the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society. People can take part for free but are encouraged to raise a minimum of $100 in pledges.

Before the walk, there will be remembrance ceremony for those who have lost their lives to the diseases. All participants will receive a t-shirt and a balloon to carry with them. The balloons represent various people - white is for survivors, gold is in memory of those lost and red is as a supporter. After the walk there will be food for purchase, music and games for all.

Later that day, One Enchanted Evening will help to raise funds for the Surrey Hospice. Guests will enjoy a champagne reception, dinner, dancing, entertainment, and a number of short talks. Surrey Hospice provides services and programs for those who are coming to the end of their lives and to their families in the form of grief counselling.

Surrey printing companies have no doubt been asked to provide Invitations and informational Flyers.

The Light the Night Walk will take place in Stanley Park on October 19 from 4:00-7:30pm. For more information, contact Liz Harris on 604-733-2873 x5199.

One Enchanted Evening is being held at the Eaglequest Coyote Creek Golf and Country Club on October 19, beginning at 5:30pm. Tickets are $95 or $690 for a table of eight. Recommended dress is formal or cocktail. To find out more about the event, call 604-584-7006.
