Run to help support those undergoing addiction recovery

The Run for Recover will take place at Price Pro on August 12 beginning at 9:00 am. There will be a 10K run and a 5K run, with fees to take part being $40 and $30 respectively. Those who form teams of five or more runners will save $5 on registration fees for each person and everyone who registers will receive a free T-shirt. Proceeds from the event go to support the Welcome Home Addiction Recovery Academy.

In addition to the runs, there will be a community festival beginning at 11:00 am which will feature musical entertainment, fun activities, food, and booths from several non-profit organizations. Those organizations providing information at booths will include the Surrey Fire Department, the Surrey Food Bank, the Running Room, Newton RCMP, Diversecity, and the Fraser Health Crisis Line. The organizers will no doubt be working with Surrey printing companies to help provide the information for which the public will be looking. Brochures will give a background of the organizations featured, Flyers can give some tips on how people can help these organizations, and Business Cards can make sure people know who to contact if they have further questions or concerns.

The Welcome Home Addiction Recovery Academy provides services to men and women between the ages of 19 and 35. They receive no government funding and their services are provided free of charge to those who need them. The Academy depends on events such as this, along with the support garnered from the public and local businesses.
