Victoria Wan is only in her third year at the university, but she already considers herself a screen printer, a web designer, a flash animator, and a filmmaker. Her foray into various expressions of art, including Print art, is attributable to the university’s emphasis on getting students to investigate many Forms of art during their time studying.

One of the pieces that Wan is most proud about is called “Atman,” and it features a woman sporting tattoos all throughout her arm and back. Created by digital process on her computer, its digital images are put onto fabric screens in order to be printed in UV ink onto a screen printing vacuum table. This is performed by dividing the CMYK layers in an image, then printing them individually on transparent paper sheets. Said sheets are exposed onto a light sensitive emulsion-coated screen by using a UV lighting machine. To finish, the screens are sprayed with a pressure washer to prepare the image for printing, using both a squeegee as well as UV ink.

After this student graduates—tentatively planned for 2012—she plans to use her knowledge of art and printing beyond her time in university. Her intent is to work in film after her university days and make her own fantasy film that is tied into realism.
