The first annual Oktoberfest is taking place this September in Surrey. It is a fundraising event for the Alexandra Neighbourhood House.
Visitors to this event will be treated to Bavarian-style food, beverages, and live music from a number of bands. There will also be door prizes, games, and contests – one of which is ‘Sausage Eating’ and another ‘Best Dirndl or Lederhosen’.
Organizers are still looking for volunteers to help with setting up and running the event, as well as cleaning up afterwards. Sponsorships are also available for local businesses and individuals. Those interested in either can call 604-535-0015.
Funds from this event will help to continue the work of the Alexandra Neighbourhood House, which will allow the organisation to expand its children's programs and community lunches.
