The Fusion Festival is set to take place in Surrey over two days next month. The annual event celebrates the cultural diversity of Canada and of Surrey itself.
Over 40 community and cultural organizations will be featured at the Fusion Festival. Countries such as Canada, Armenia, Ecuador, France, Japan, Indonesia and the Ukraine will have booths set up throughout the event to highlight their culture and their influence on Canadian society.
There will also be performances from local and international groups; some of the groups and individuals who will be appearing at this year's event include Los Lobos, Hawksley Workman, Delhi 2 Dublin, and Bocephus King. The Vancouver Korean Dance Society and Van City Bhangra will also be putting on shows.
As well as live entertainment, visitors to the festival will be able to enjoy cooking demonstrations from celebrity chefs, the World Sports Zone, and Flavours of Surrey, where guests purchase food samples. Children will be kept amused with activities organised by Kids World.
Organizers of the Fusion Festival are currently looking for volunteers - which they call Fusioneers - and sponsors to help make this year a great success. All sponsors will receive an exhibit booth.
Surrey printing companies have been asked to provide services such as ticket and banner printing for the event.
The Fusion Festival will take place at Holland Park from July 20-21 from 11:00am - 10:00pm each day. Admission is free. Food tickets for Flavours of Surrey are $1 each. For more information on volunteering or in becoming a sponsor, call 604-591-4598.
