Expo to offer insight for prospective adoptive and foster parents

A conference is taking place in Surrey next month that will be addressing the subject of adoption and fostering.

Adoption and foster care can help to build families, but it is important for adoptive and foster parents to understand how the process can be traumatic for the children who go through the system.

Kim Barthel has organized a full day of learning for foster and adoptive parents, and it can help them to understand the trauma the children may experience. They will learn how they can create a supportive and welcoming environment for a child, and while they learn, delegates can also build connections with others who are going through the same experience they are.

As well as parents, the symposium can be useful to medical professionals, educators and anyone else who works with kids. Lunch is included in the registration fee, and childcare may also be available for those who need it.

This sort of event can help those who are new to the complexities of parenting a child who has undergone trauma to get started on the right foot. Manuals and other materials can aid in maximizing the learning opportunities in a large event like this, and Print shops can supply them.

North Langley Community Church has reserved February 25th for this function, which will be hosted by Kim Barthel. Tickets to be included in the day start at $10 each.
