Community festival coming to Surrey

The 19th Newton Community Festival and Doors Open Surrey is taking place this June, and is being presented by the Newton Recreation Centre.

The festival is expected to feature prize draws and freebies, music and dance performances on the main stage, and sports and fitness demonstrations. There will also be a children's play zone featuring a bouncy castle and arts and crafts. Additionally, vendors will be on hand to provide merchandise, food, and information about local non-profit organizations.

Vendors are still being sought and can register until June 1st. Prices are $75 for food, $30 for commercial, and $15 for non-profit groups.

Doors Open Surrey will be taking place at 48 sites in the city, with access at each free to the general public. The opening ceremony for this event will take place at the Newton Recreation Centre; it will begin with a speech by Judy Villeneuve and historic re-enactments.

Surrey banner printing companies may be called to provide products that can be used to let the public know which buildings are taking part in Doors Open.
