Car-free festival to debut in Surrey

This spring, the Newtown Business Improvement Association will be hosting the first Car-free Day Surrey. For eight hours, the event location will be free of vehicles.

Car-free Day Surrey is a free event that welcomes visitors of all ages. The festival will include food and drink pavilions, vendors, family-friendly activities and live entertainment. As its name suggests, Car-free Day encourages festivalgoers to consider alternative modes of transport, such as walking, cycling and taking public transit. The event will also focus on promoting local businesses by highlighting stores at the location of the festival with booths and extended patios.

Sellers that will be showcasing their goods on Car-free Day Surrey include commercial, artisan and food truck vendors. Banner printing is useful for sellers to create colourful promotional printouts that attract more customers to their booths.

Artisan vendors can register online for a fee of $100, car vendors for $300 and food truck vendors for $500. Chairs, tables and tents are not included in registration fees, although sellers without these pieces of equipment may rent them for an additional fee.

All food truck vendors must have a CNV Business license and an up-to-date health permit from the Fraser Health Mobile Vending Unit.

The 2022 Car-free Day Surrey festival will be hosted on 137th Street from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, June 11.
