This October, the sixth annual edition of Penticton Beer Week will take place, with a full array of activities designed to celebrate the city’s brewing heritage.
The event is designed to recognize the Penticton Beer Block, which is home to eight craft breweries, including some of the province’s oldest. It will get started with the Penticton Beer Run, a 10-kilometre run/walk will feature a scenic trek across the KVR Trail alongside tastings from 10 different microbrews. This year’s run includes a shorter six-kilometre option, with runners encouraged to wear costumes for the Halloween or Oktoberfest season. There will also be a celebration of Oktoberfest later in the week at Abandoned Rail Brewing, with food items, live music, and of course steins of beer to represent the German cultural festival.
There will be two editions of All About Beer Karaoke at The Barley Mill, with attendees encouraged to sing their heart out. Other events include the Leif David Magic Show and a Brewer’s Showdown, with more activities to be announced in the lead-up to the week. Special packages and offers have been announced for visitors to Penticton, as well as a Do Good collaboration beer supporting the BC Parks Foundation. Festivals like this, often promoted through eye-catching poster printing and social media posts, help provide an opportunity for small and independent breweries to connect with new customers.
The 2024 Penticton Beer Week will take place from October 4 to 14 at locations throughout the city.
