Upcoming fair lets attendees assess their health

The Okanagan Similkameen Healthy Living Fair is taking place next month in Penticton, carrying the theme of ‘International Year of Pulses’.

This free event will feature fitness demonstrations, healthy eating advice and several guest speakers on topics like mindful eating and cancer prevention.

More than 60 health and fitness organizations will be on hand to provide information on their products, programs, and services in more than 90 booths, and some of those confirmed to appear at this year's show includes Action Orthotics and Prosthetics, the BC Naturopathic Association, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Get Bent Active Arts Society and representatives from the Okanagan College Human Kinetics Diploma Program.

The fair will also have six Healthy Living assessment stations set up. Guests must register in advance to attend and those stations will include healthy eating, blood pressure and smoking cessation. No doubt, there will also be a place for visitors to purchase food and drink throughout the day.

It is likely that the Healthy Living assessment stations will be providing visitors with printed documents on ways to improve their health, perhaps provided by Penticton Print companies.

The event is being held at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre on March 12th from 9:00am to 4:00pm. For the latest information and more on participating organizations, visit the official event website.
