The holidays are coming to Penticton beginning early next month, with the main event being the 19th annual Santa Claus parade.
It will start off on North on Main Street and travel down to Lakeshore drive and end up in Gyro Park. The parade will feature the usual floats, Christmas characters, community organizations and, of course, Santa Claus. Spectators are advised to bring their own blanket, chair and hot chocolate.
Once in Gyro Park, children can visit with Santa Claus from 2:00 - 4:00 PM. After that, it will be time for the 2nd annual Christmas Light Up; this year's tree will be unveiled and then illuminated.
For those who have not finished their Christmas shopping, the Downtown Penticton Christmas Market is taking place during the same weekend. Artists and crafters will be selling items such as jewelry, home baking, clothing, toys and other things suitable for gift giving.
Penticton companies often provide newsletter printing services to organizations to advertise upcoming events; if they are participating in the parade they can let their customers know about it.
The Santa Claus Parade and the Christmas Light Up will take place on December 5 beginning at 1:00 PM. The Christmas Market is being held at 501 Main St. from December 5 to 6 starting at 9:00 AM. Contact the Downtown Penticton Association at 250-493-8540 for more information.
