One of Penticton’s longest-running summer traditions, the Penticton Peach Festival will be returning this August.
The festival will feature a variety of peach-flavoured treats as well as other food and drink vendors to celebrate the beginning of harvest season. There will be on-stage entertainment throughout the weekend, including acrobatics, dance, and motocross as well as musical arts such as Steve Lee Olson, Honeymoon Suite, and High Voltage. Local short films will also be screened each night as part of the Reel Peach Film Festival. Young visitors can enjoy and participant in the Kiddies Day Parade, with participants 12 and under encouraged to decorate and show off their bicycles, scooters and wagons.
Other family-friendly amusements include pony rides, a petting zoo, and traditional carnival games and rides in the Shooting Star Amusement midway. There will also be a Grand Parade, billed as the largest in the B. C. Interior, with floats and live performers from across the province. The more athletically-minded can participate in events like the Sheila Bishop Slo-Pitch Tournament, a swim across the lake, and a beach volleyball tournament. Summer festivals like this often use methods like banner printing and live music to create a unique festive atmosphere.
The 2024 Penticton Peach Festival will take place from August 7 to 11 at Okanagan Lake Park. Admission is free for all ages.
