The Ha Ha Ha Kidzfest will be staged in Penticton this June, with three days of performances and activities designed to make children laugh.
The festival will feature stage performances by acts such as ventriloquist Kellie Haines, the Wild Moccasin Dancers, and Dusty Flowerpot Cabaret. Each performer will also be leading a workshop teaching young people how to follow in their footsteps and do their own performances. There will also be workshops led by figures like author Lee Fodi, acting instructor Marcie Nestman, and Trixie the Clown. Over fifteen local community organizations will be involved, providing various hands-on activities in which kids can participate.
On Friday night, the festival will include a Latin Beat concert in the park with food trucks and performers inspired by Latin musical traditions. The festival’s final day will kick off with the first-ever Kidzfest Story Parade, with children and families encouraged to dress up as their favourite characters and parade along the Okanagan Lake Promenade towards the festival grounds. Kidzfest is run by a nonprofit group with local volunteer efforts. Festivals like this often draw on support from local businesses, from restaurants for refreshments to Print shops for decoration and advertising.
The 2024 Ha Ha Ha Kidzfest will take place in Penticton’s Gyro Park from June 6th to 8th. The festival will be open to school field trips during the day on the 6th and 7th, and to the general public on the evening of the 7th and the full day of the 8th.
