The OneWorld Festival, designed to help celebrate the diversity of cultures in the Okanagan Valley, will be holding its 10th annual edition this February.
The festival is hosted by South Okanagan Immigrant & Community Services, which also aims to help new arrivals integrate with the Penticton area, and it will mark a return to the in-person format following last year’s virtual edition. There will be musical, dance and other performances embodying over 35 countries and cultures that are represented within the South Okanagan. There will also be a focus on local businesses, with events designed to highlight immigrant success stories and local artisans. Small businesses often use cultural events such as this to make connections through Business Cards and item give-aways.
The OneWorld Festival will also have art on display and food vendors reflecting the diverse cuisine that can be found in Penticton and surrounding areas. Last year’s festival featured live-streamed performances ranging from the Vale United Pipe Band and Bhangra Dance to Yamabiko Taiko drumming, alongside cooking and crafting demonstrations. The 2023 event will look to include a similar variety, along with more hands-on events, with an exact schedule to be announced in the weeks leading up to the fest.
