The Penticton Curling Classic will be back this November featuring competitive men’s curlers from around the world.
The competition is the largest tournament on the BC Curling Tour, with a $100,000 prize purse. This year will involve 30 quartets, divided into of five pools of six. Seven teams hail from the province, including previous provincial champion Brent Pierce, as well as top teams from around the world, such as Canadian national champion Kevin Koe and Sweden’s Nicklas Edin, a multiple-time world gold medallist who has won the previous two editions of the event. The top two finishers in each pool will advance to a play-off round, with a single winner crowned at the end of the event.
Last year’s edition of the Curling Classic saw the introduction of Nufloors as a sponsor and games being streamed online as part of a partnership with curling.com, with up to three games per draw being broadcast. The event will be accompanied by a 50/50 draw open to all BC residents. Pro curling events have proliferated through a number of tours and tournaments, often promoted through tools such as colourful banner printing and online streams for dedicated fans, and hosted by local enthusiast clubs.
The 2022 Penticton Curling Classic will take place at the Penticton Curling Club between November 3 and 7.
